Sana Bilgrami was born in 1974 in Karachi, Pakistan. She studied Film & Communications and Philosophy at McGill University in Montreal. Edinburgh is her present home.
 
She completed a Masters degree in Film and TV at the Edinburgh College of Art, for which she directed, filmed and produced the award winning documentary film Under my Skin.

The film won Best Documentary at the Chichester International Film Festival 2002, and was nominated for the Grierson Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2002.
 

She was also presented the DAG Award for Special Achievement at Scottish Students on Screen 2002.

In 2000, she worked as creative director for a television production company in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Her most recent film Recreating Paradise was commissioned by the Glasgow Museums and the National Museums of Scotland.

She has just been selected from amongst "Scotland's best talent" for a Bridging the Gap Award for her next documentary film.

Sana has recently been to Pakistan post the 2005 Earthquake and here is a download of the film she made for an NGO working in the region download
